The Links, Incorporated recently presented its 48th Eastern Area Conference in Manhattan, attracting members from nine states on the East Coast, the District of Columbia, and the United Kingdom. The event theme, “Elevating Friendship, Empowering Families,” highlighted the organization’s enduring commitment to community service, leadership development, and cultural engagement. The event took place from April 23 through April 27.

According to the conference website, The Links, Incorporated is “an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other people of African ancestry.” There are more than 17,000 members in 299 chapters worldwide.

Under the leadership of Eastern Area Director Lisa Loury Lomas, Ph.D., the Eastern Area comprises over 80 chapters and approximately 5,000 members across nine states, the District of Columbia, and the United Kingdom.
