Dozens of block parties are happening around the city this summer continuing the tradition of New Yorkers – and visitors – celebrating good times, music, food, laughter and togetherness in the way only the Five Boroughs can.

Last weekend AmNews stopped in on two of them in Brooklyn and they didn’t disappoint. At Brower Park, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! brought in Black House Radio and Chicago house music legendary DJ Terry Hunter for a dance party sponsored by The Brooklyn Mavens.

Just a couple of miles away, the annual St. James Place Summer Block Party packed ‘em in with DJ sets by Sabine Blaizin, Quinnette, Stonie Blue, and Saint James Joy.

There are tons of summer block events still waiting to take place. If you’ve got video from them to send us, drop it at news@amsterdamnews.com.

  1. Brower Park is such an underrated spot for this kind of thing, and a Terry Hunter set there sounds like it was worth the trip. My block did one of these a couple years back and the setup alone took half a day. Glad somebody’s actually covering them instead of just the big ticketed stuff.
