Dr. John Marshall Kilimanjaro (né Stevenson) Sr., professor, civil rights activist, trailblazing newspaper founder and publisher of the Carolina Peacemaker, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, N.C. John was born on June 6, 1930, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Isabell Lawson Broy Stevenson, a Registered Nurse, and the late Arthur Leonard Stevenson, a Pullman Porter.
