The 52nd birthday ceremony for Clifford Glover will take place at the House of the Lord Church, 415 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y., Saturday, Nov. 14 from 1 p.m to 3 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Herbert Daughtry is the featured speaker at the ceremony.
Other invited speakers are Armstead Glover, the brother of Clifford Glover, Assemblyman Charles Barron and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
At 5 a.m. April 28, 1973, Clifford Glover, 10, was shot in the back by NYPD officer Thomas Shea as he walked with his stepfather, Armstead, to a junkyard, as was his custom on Saturday mornings. The officer went to trial and was acquitted on June 12, 1974, by a jury of 11 whites and one Black. Shea was the only police officer to be tried for murder while on duty.
